You are most welcome to my personal website BirdsPhotographer.com. My name is Nikolay Staykov, I was born in Sofia, Bulgaria and currently live here.

I work as a photographer and editor in a leading international website for mobile phones and portable devices. Wildlife photography is a hobby and I’ve dedicated most of my free time to it. I adore being outside with the birds and animals around, and I hope you’ll get that feeling too, while looking at my photos.

I’ve made my first steps in the photography with Ricoh film body and MF telephoto lens. Nowadays I am an experienced Canon user and I’ve been using all of the prime telephoto lenses and bodies of Canon as well as Sigma. Since 2010 I am using only Nikon telephoto gear.

Apart of selling fine-art prints and publications in magazines, I’ve also won a couple of competitions:

• Wild Wonders of Europe, June 2009, 1^st place (European competition)
• Wild Wonders of Europe, August 2010, 1^st place (European competition)
• Wild Wonders of Bulgaria, November 2010, the Grand prize (Bulgarian competition)

• Author of articles for birds in Magazine 8, 2010-2014 year
• Author of cover page of the book ‘The great cleanup’ by Dr. Pavlina Mihaylova, 2012 year
• Author of images in the book ‘Meeting the birds of Bulgaria’ published by BSPB, 2012 year
• Author of video publications in the national video catalogue ‘This is Bulgaria’, 2012 year
