Today the Nikon D7100 camera was announced – a direct successor of Nikon D7000. The new Nikon D7100 will be available as a body only option or in a kit including Nikon AF-S DX 18 -105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR. The D7100 will hit the EU market in March and will set you back 1180 EUR or 1400 EUR for the kit flavour.

Here are some of the key highlights:

    – high resolution count 24.1 MP with no low pass filter
    – new Nikon Multi-CAM 3500DX sensor with 51 AF points (15 cross type)
    – AF possible at central point in a combination of a lens and converter with a minimum f/8 aperture!
    – up to 7 fps in 1.3x crop mode (15.4 MP file)
    – 1080/60p video in 1.3x crop mode, built-in stereo mic., 3.5 mm audio jack slot
    – “i” hardware key for quick access to frequently used camera features
    – Dust and splash resistant body – the same as in Nikon D800/D800E and D300s body
    – 0.052 s shutter lag

What I really like is the AF points grid, just like in the D300 body. When the D7100 is used in a 1.3x crop mode, the AF points literally fill the whole viewfinder.

As for the main disadvantages, it is certainly the very small buffer of only 6 full resolution RAW files. You have to use the fastest SD cards on the market to ensure that the buffer will transfer files as fast as possible. I hope to get my hands on the camera soon to post more impressions of this little monster.

    Обещаващ апарат.
Жалко, че 1080 видео режима при снимане с 60 кадъра в секунда е interlaced а не progressive.

Да и аз не харесвам интерлийза, но какво да се прави.
